About Us

How we started

In 2006 Lucy Amos, a mum to two fidgets, was so passionate about the benefits of starting language learning young, she decided to set up a class for pre-school children in York, called French for Fidgets.  Lucy developed the Fidgets method using her musical training, expertise in early years development and lots of input from native speakers.  Lucy has quite simply reinvented the way languages are taught to children using all five senses, with lots of music, action rhymes, craft activities, tasty food, gorgeous puppets, games and general fun and silliness.

Lucy soon found that families were travelling long distances to join the classes, so she set up centres surrounding towns, added Spanish for Fidgets, a fantastic nursery programme and primary school classes to the mix.

The unique Fidgets method has been featured by the BBC and national press and in 2011 the Little Fidgets franchise was launched to help bring the classes to new areas.
